With raw emotion and masterful storytelling, Chibbi weaves themes of heritage, survival, and self-discovery into a powerful tapestry of sound. This album is not just a collection of poems, it’s a call to action, a testament to the fight for visibility and justice, and a celebration of the unstoppable strength within us all. This is the live premiere of that album, filmed at the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center in San Antonio, TX.

I was asked to write a poem to perform at this year’s San Antonio MLK Virtual March, so I imagined the kind of world I wished we were living in. The dream that MLK had. This is “Autumn, Always” after Danez Smith. Much appreciation and gratitude to the city of San Antonio, the MLK Commission, and the production team behind putting this all together.

A poem about family, history, and heritage.

A collection of over 70 poems from nearly 50 poets from all across Texas, Contra: Texas Poets Speak Out is a critical response to our current political climate. The show features some of the poets reading their work from the book, as well as a drive to encourage people to register to vote and then to turn out to vote! All proceeds from the sale of the anthology will be donated to MOVE Texas, a non-partisan grassroots organization building power in underrepresented youth communities through civic education, leadership development, and issue advocacy.
